Found it! Fine crochet thread in all the sizes made in New York. Some of these sizes are damn near impossible to find for vintage patterns.

R. Sunder-RajDoes anyone know if there are any degradation-over-time issues in stiffening crochet with fishing line? I am talking about monofilament which I am guessing will probably be nylon.
In this case, the thickness of the line will exceed the thickness of the thread used, and I would be concerned about anything leaching out hastening the degradation of the thread.
I had mounted this crocheted #wedgeSquiggle on a background embroidered with copies of the triangle pattern on which it is based.
I just noticed that when I use my flatbed scanner to capture the image, the scanner seems to be consistently introducing lighter lines into the picture 🙁 (the evenly-spaced thin lines are due to the fabric, it is the other ones that are the problem). I may have to go with a photograph, or try to get another scanner working with my iPad.

I had forgotten how much of a pain it is to sew a lacy piece of crochet into a fabric that can fray….not using any fray-stopping liquid…yet.
I guess that a quarter of a century may be enough time to forget such things.
SilverSalmonAKI haven't shared a project progress report in awhile. I admit this is just an exercise in vanity. The "top expert" designation challenged me.
I've run out of thread (one of the butterflies isn't finished and I have all the attachment/fill work to do) so this has to be set aside until more thread arrives.
I used to crochet quite a bit with thread - even won a ribbon at the NM state fair. I'm enjoying getting back into it.
