Found it! Fine crochet thread in all the sizes made in New York. Some of these sizes are damn near impossible to find for vintage patterns.

@TheJen excellent link. Saw your pic and thought of lace my grandmas and grandma did using what is called ‘tatting’. Similar to your lacework but seems a more obscure category. Cousins now carry along the tradition.

@cascheranno Yep. Tatting is next on my list to teach myself. I have what I need to do it, but I just haven't gotten around to doing it. :)
