The Scapegoat (1959 film) - Wikipedia

One of the fairly striking things to me, listening to the audiobook for #theScapegoat, was how clearly it came across that English, in particular modern usage thereof, has a very flat understanding of love/affection. This isn't a new observation - see everyone trying to understand if two close male friends were boning or not historically - but the impact of the LANGUAGE was striking. Many meanings, few actual words. Reminds me of that chestnut about words for snow.
Hitting the French marriage intrigue in #theScapegoat and in the back of my mind, that bit from the 2014 Musketeers show is playing on loop
"I can't believe YOU SLEPT WITH THE QUEEN"
The impression I'm getting from these quotes is that the Elizabethan meaning of "minion" is sex pet #theScapegoat
