Just learnt about another strange Tenhou rule:

サドンデスルールは、30000点(供託未収)以上になった時点で終了、ただし親の連荘がある場合は連荘を優先する

That is, sudden death ends once a player has 30k or more, unless there was a double ron (or an exhaustive draw) with the dealer being one of the winners and the dealer not being in first place afterwards, in which case the dealer repeat takes priority  

(I would have finished first with 31k, but instead we continued playing and I ended last  )
