UK Government Plans to Charge Admission to National Museums for International Visitors
A terrible idea. Just make art galleries free for all and encourage tourism!
*Reads article*
".. the implementation of charging international visitors to enter national museums is “conditional on the government first rolling out a universal ID scheme, which would make it easier to differentiate domestic and international visitors.”"

What Turner's sketchbooks tell us about his love of travel.

"For JMW Turner, sketchbooks allowed him to capture the world around him while he was travelling. The books came in all shapes and sizes, containing beautifully detailed watercolours and the quickest of pencil sketches, as well as shopping lists, medical advice..."

One last #TateGallery picture. But no blurb. It's by #Constable who had his own room alongside all the #Turner paintings.
It's also near #Brighton and was part of a set. We have been joking about Constable all week, from the info we gained. He did one large piece, it took him 13 years to get it right. He painted a local scene, turned the church into a windmill, then back again ( you can see the oil paint layers). He covered everything in white paint when he wasn't happy with it.
