@david_chisnall @TimWardCam @Geri in the US when people on disability aren’t under the continuous care of a doctor their disability payments get shut off when they are reviewed.
And it’s not enough to be continuously seeing your PCP if your disabling conditions require a specialist. They tried to deny my brother a couple years of backpay because he wasn’t seeing a psychiatrist even though his mental health issues weren’t what were disabling him at the time.
At my disability hearing the judge hassled me for seeing a nurse practitioner for ADHD instead of a psychiatrist.
This is why they want to take Medicaid away from people. I mean, it’s one of the many reasons why.
The SSA has published a document showing what continues and what doesn’t during a shutdown.

Speaking of snap, I’m a single woman in New Hampshire and my only income is SSDI. My calculation of my medical expenses seems like I only spent three dollars more per month than I did last year, but my food stamps went up like $30. I’m really excited about this.
This will probably only last a month or two because in October they make changes if there are congressional changes made to the amounts, but I expected them to go down even though my medical expenses went up. They didn’t yet.
