Love this ornate flèche, or spirelet, on the former Barony Church on Castle Street in central Glasgow. Designed by John James Burnet and John Archibald Campbell, this church was built in the late 1880s. It's now part of Strathclyde University and is known as Barony Hall.

A rather stylish roof vent topped by a fleche or spirelet on Cathcart Trinity Church (originally Cathcart Free Church) on Clarkston Road in Glasgow. Built in 1893, it was designed in an ornate Decorated Gothic style by W.G. Rowan.

The ornate roof vent of the Broomhill Hyndland Church Halls. A common feature of Glasgow's larger public buildings, such roof vents use differences in air pressure created by the wind to draw warm, stale air out of the top of the building, which in turn draws fresh, cool air in at the bottom, creating a passive air-conditioning system.

Flèche or Spirelets, like this one Temple Primary School, are a common feature on older public buildings in Glasgow. Unlike Finials, which are placed on the apex of a building, Flèches are often placed in the middle of the roofline.
