We know that the mTORC2 complex regulates lipid synthesis in #cancer, but how? This study shows that RICTOR (reg subunit of mTORC2) regulates synthesis of #sphingolipids & #gangliosides by modulating expression of the UGCG enzyme, so promoting #BreastCancer growth @PLOSBiology https://plos.io/42q1Hg4
#sphingolipids are increasingly recognised as #biomarkers of #cardiometabolic #health.
The SphingoHIIT, a RCT, showed that a single #hiit session does not alter blood sphingolipid levels in healthy young adults, under tightly controlled conditions (diet, menstrual timing, multi‑timepoint sampling).
This is an interesting feature for potential biomarkers of cardiometabolic risk.
Congrats to Dr Thomas Angst on his successful doctoral thesis completion!
