Sonny Gray struck out 10 while allowing only four singles over seven innings as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers 2-0. Willson Contreras had a part in both St. Louis runs. He had an RBI double after earlier scoring on Nolan Arenado's sacrifice fly. It was Gray’s 19th game with double-digit strikeouts. The 35-year-old right-hander is only the 10th active pitcher with 1,800 career strikeouts. The Cardinals finished with a 19-8 record in May. That is their best mark in that month since going 20-7 in 2013, their last World Series team.

Emily Gladstone ColeI remember going to a playoff game back in the early 2000s, where the #OaklandAthletics lost to the #Yankees - it was a rollicking crowd and a wonderful game.
I was at the 20th win of the #TwentyGameWinStreak which was pretty incredible, the crowd, the noise, and how people stuck around to cheer through all the ups and downs of that game.
I was at the final game of the regular season in 2012, when the A's came back from a five-game deficit with nine to play, and on that final day they passed the #Rangers to win the division.
I was at the Opening Day game in 2015, when #SonnyGray gave up no hits until the 8th inning.
I was at the #SeanManaea no-hitter in 2018. That was pretty incredible.
I saw debuts for Manaea and #MattChapman and so many others.
I was at the #ProtestGame in 2023, and tomorrow one will be my only game for 2024. And my last.
