One of my clearest memories of my father is being in his truck and him telling me the story of this shootout, why it played out the way it did, why the weaponry used was a significant factor, and how this event affected policing all over the country.

It's a memory I cherish pretty deeply. My dad died before I could really find out "who" we was (ideologically, politically, etc) but, from what everyone has ever told me, he was a man very much like myself. I have to assume, based on how he lived his life and what I'm recalling as an adult, that he fucking hated cops. Through the more finely-tuned lens of an adult remembering an adult, this memory is only improved to me.
