I think the hardest thing about working on art for yourself or art that will stay hidden-perhaps for a long time (for an event or customer or some other reason) is that you cease to be. Posting art online doesn't really feel like a welcoming place anymore (for various reasons) but also… artists just really want to share. excruciatingly so.
