It's a horrid rainy day today as Storm Claudia is hitting us, but yesterday it was glorious blue skies and I took advantage of them to take #coffeeneuring ride number 5 to one of my favourite coffee shops in a village just outside the city along the canal.

There were more boats on the canal than featured in the #sketchmap in my #journal, there’s only the regular trip boats on the river. Lechwe was the only boat I saw moving, the others just had the most memorable names. I also added the watery themed pub names. The Boathouse on the river was the only one that looked to be doing good business on a Thursday morning.

The highlights of #coffeeneuring ride number 4 - to get a latte at a Ukrainian run coffee bar yesterday - that made it to the #journal #sketchmap were

- finding gloves2, which were bought to replace gloves1 which were lost and then found a few days later. I’d lost gloves2 some weeks ago but I was only searching because gloves1 have gone astray again.

- a ride on lawnmower and two dogs on the racecourse. I don’t think they all knew it was a race but the dogs were winning until it was 💩 time allowing the bloke on the lawnmower to win. It was practically a retelling of the hare & the tortoise.

It occurred to me after drawing that maybe the part medieval, part eighteenth century castle & the sixteenth century cathedral should have got a look in but they are just regular everyday scenery and don’t stand out in my brain as much as the industrial estate apparently.

If you've been using #OpenStreetMap for a while, you might have heard of the tool called #FieldPapers, which lets mappers collect geodata the old school, low-tech way -- pen and paper.

It's easy to use, and requires very little training
