I don't really understand why #SIGIR selected the US for 2027. Seems like a really bad idea given the current situation in the US. They even had an alternative Toronto bid!!

The #SIGIR2025 conference is asking volunteers to present papers of random researchers that cannot present. If you cannot attend, your paper will be presented by someone else. There will be no on-line presentations.

I am disappointed by the total absence of possibilities to present on-line. We got a lot of experience organizing on-line events during Covid-19 times: Why is #SIGIR trowing that all away?
