**Mary Carver (Simon & Simon).** Best episode so far. Funniest; best action sequences; actually has a valid point to make. Highlight: car chase. Cast chemistry really strong. 1st of 2 scripts written by Bob Comfort (Just Our Luck). _Fall 1986: Fridays on ABC after Mr. Belvedere, before Sledge Hammer! Against Dallas (CBS); Miami Vice (NBC)._ 7/10

Better story than previous episode. There’s real drama in this one. Jake is supposed to go to an event at Ernie’s school, but he’s needed for a stake-out that same night. They portray the conflict well. Directed by Kim Manners (The X-Files, Supernatural). First of 5 episodes for Frank Bonner as Mooney. There’s a joke about the way the cops dress on Miami Vice. _Fall 1986: ABC on Fridays after Mr. Belvedere, before Sledge Hammer! Against Dallas (CBS); Miami Vice (NBC)._ 6/10

The story continues from the Last Electric Knight TV movie. And it’s a bit of a mixed bag, with a little of everything. First, we get some martial arts action when Ernie (Ernie Reyes Jr.) takes on some thugs on a school outing. Then, some light situation comedy as Ernie annoys Rizzo (Gil Gerard) with his obsessive neatness. The tone switches to crime next, with Rizzo and his partner (Richard Kline) getting shot at while chasing a burglar. Which leads to some conflict at home, and Ernie runs away. For a while it plays like family drama. Plus, we get some awkward light romcom stuff with the Nancy Stafford character, before it returns to crime drama for the resolution of the case. I like the show, and the cast are good, but it is a bit all over the place. I kinda wish it would pick a lane. _Fall 1986: ABC aired sideKicks in the middle hour of Friday prime time after Mr. Belvedere and before Sledge Hammer! Against it were Dallas on CBS and Miami Vice on NBC._ 6/10
The Last Electric Knight. This TV movie stars Gil Gerard as a cop who reluctantly becomes the guardian to a little kid (Ernie Reyes Jr.) after his grandfather passes away. The kid is proficient in martial arts, and their adventures continue in the sideKicks TV series. This opener is likeable. It’s a light and breezy affair. There are villains, but they’re not particularly threatening. The fight scenes are good. The light comedic stuff is okay. 6/10
