rixxI felt the story really hit its stride here! The exposition was alright, but obviously leading up to something, and now that we found it (the countdown, wow!), I can't wait to see where this leads.
The computer game is a great touch, and I wonder when our protagonist will let go of his fear and disbelief to realise its purpose.
The whole issue at the heart of the novel reminds me of Greg Egan, who likes to pull stunts like this.

Jess Mahler@copper_tongue FYI, most of us start discussing long before we finish. We just include what chapter we're discssing in the CW so everyone knows what part of the book we are talking about.
Though Annihilation makes that a bit hard, with only 5 chapters.
