🐴 Happy #Minnesota #FossilFriday! The next year of the horse isn't until 2026 but the last couple of years have uncovered many horse specimens for me and a fellow fossil hunter. Horse specimens for us are second only to Bison bison finds. One of these teeth, if verified, will be the first Pleistocene horse documented in Minnesota!

🦣 Happy #MammothMonday. This Columbian #mammoth tusk and partial pelvis were recently returned to my hometown New Ulm, Minnesota after a great pro-bono restoration by the Science Museum of Minnesota! 🦣 Mammoths roamed Minnesota as the glaciers retreated. The specimens were found in a gravel deposit, possibly left by the River Warren. The ancient river drained Lake Agassiz in central North America about ~12,000 years ago.
