🐴 Happy #Minnesota #FossilFriday! The next year of the horse isn't until 2026 but the last couple of years have uncovered many horse specimens for me and a fellow fossil hunter. Horse specimens for us are second only to Bison bison finds. One of these teeth, if verified, will be the first Pleistocene horse documented in Minnesota!

Fun find for #Minnesota #FossilFriday! 🦥🐻🍃 🦣🦬🐪 Here is a bear maxilla found by a friend in Southern Minnesota (not black bear territory). No estimate of age but it was found eroding out of the side of a crick bed with about 4 ft. of overburden above it. It has been donated to the Science Museum of Minnesota for further research. 🦥🐻🍃 🦣🦬🐪

🦣 Happy #MammothMonday. This Columbian #mammoth tusk and partial pelvis were recently returned to my hometown New Ulm, Minnesota after a great pro-bono restoration by the Science Museum of Minnesota! 🦣 Mammoths roamed Minnesota as the glaciers retreated. The specimens were found in a gravel deposit, possibly left by the River Warren. The ancient river drained Lake Agassiz in central North America about ~12,000 years ago.
