Waiting for Godot grounded in the specific context of two Jews waiting to be smuggled out of Nazi-occupied Paris --- wow. Now it all makes sense.

I did not know this context and learning it is deeply liberating for me.

Like you, I read the text by choice, but at the time in Germany such reading was clouded by the Heideggerian pomposity of the "Feuilleton". This new insight blows away the clouds, once and for all. Thank you!

Gerade im Radio gehört: #samuelBecket hat verfügt, dass sein Stück #wartenAufGodot nicht von #Frauen gespielt werden dürfe, weil die Figuren einfach Männer seien. Eine Stiftung setzt das nach wie vor rechtlich durch. Da würde es mir als Theatermacher unglaublich unter den Fingern jucken, das lächerlich zu machen. Z.B mit Männern besetzen, die alle Figuren als Frauen spielen.
