I needed this. My last two runs were really bad - felt off, didn't get far, just overall blah. Today was the opposite. Since starting back running at the end of December, I'd never made it 7 minutes without stopping. Today I went over 9. It might not sound like much to serious runners (I know that's your warmup), but it's a lot to me. My first run over 3/4 mi, and after an up and down week that ended down, this was a gift.

Time/Distance:
0.84 miles in 9:06

Today wasn't about time or distance. It was just simply about getting out the door once this week. With all the traveling and moving and assorted crap, that was my definition of a win today. I felt better than the awful run last week, so that's something. Back to two/week next week. I feel a lot better at that cadence.

Run times/distances (walk before, between and after):

0.54 miles in 5:14
0.24 miles in 2:26

Blah. I was overdue for a bad run day, and today was a bad run day. Just felt off from the start. I have to remind myself that 3 weeks ago, I was still trying to run half a mile without stopping, and I did that today. Still, blah. Repeat to self: Progress isn't linear. Progress isn't linear. Progress is not linear.

Run distances/times (walk before, between, after):
0.5mi in 4:27
0.25 mi in 2:15

4th run of 2023, and a nice (metric) milestone: My first kilometer without stopping. I tried my mile loop in the opposite direction from usual, and I think I like the original way better, but it's good to change it up. Steady rain today, which I'm sure is bad for most people. For me, it helps, because my problem is always overheating, not getting cold. Hard to overheat in cold rain.

Runs (walks before, between and after):
0.68 mi in 6:40
0.25 mi in 2:39

I was really on the fence about getting a run in tonight. I needed it though. Everything that was in my head is still in my head, but a tiny little bit of it is out there now, and that's something.

Times/Distances (walking before, between, after):
0.6 mi in 6:31
0.21 mi in 2:14

Still inching closer to my mile loop. One more block and I'll have my first kilometer without stopping in 10+ years.

First time I've tried an afternoon run, rather than morning or evening. Results: Not that different.

Running (walks before, between and after):
0.54 miles in 5:42
0.17 miles in 1:50

That's my first run over half a mile without stopping since starting back up in late December, and one block closer to my mile loop goal. But my second leg was shorter than usual. I just had nothing left. Oh well. I was struggling a little to get out, so just starting is a win.

First run of 2023, 3rd overall since starting back up after a 10+ year break.

2 splits (walked before, between and after):
0.49 miles in 5:14
0.2 miles in 2:16

I'm one block closer to my first goal of running my home mile loop without stopping. I was hoping to hit half a mile today, and didn't realize I was so close or I would have pushed another block. Oh well. Happy to have broken the five minutes without stopping mark anyway.

2nd run and last of the year. I'm going to document my running here to help motivate me. Y'all were great when I posted my first one. (But I am going to put it behind a CW because I'm on a science communication server and not everyone wants to see this.)

Splits today (walked between and after):
0.43 miles in 4:14
0.2 miles in 1:54

So yeah - starting from zero. My first goal is just to be able to do my home mile route without stopping.
