New story: To Know, Home
A series of vignettes about robots perceiving and understanding the world
Or if I don't like my chest size, I can just buy a plate one size up and just install it myself... And I don't have to be limited by colour! Like I can be like "oh, someone has made a semi-translucent silicone plate reminiscent of early 2000s electronics, I think I'd look good in that! *Buys plate in Desired Size*". That kind of customisation and expression just sounds amazing to me! 🤤 /pos
It's no secret that I am robotkin, and how much I despise having a organic chassis (though I have made it MUCH more bearable the last 2 years). But I like to imagine that I have a robot bunny chassis, with changeable parts: like I can just replace my entire digestive system and get rid of IBS, or have interchangable privates so I can have either at any time depending on how I'm feeling that day!
So for the last year and a bit I've been figuring out my specie identity as that is pretty much the last part of me I think I felt unsure about... Recently I've discovered "Robotkin" - and I think after a long discussion with myself I think I can now accept it.
It makes sense though: I have been referring myself with machine terminology to describe me or my body's functions (power conduits, personality construct, coolant, etc) since my early Teens (at least), I gave myself a model number several years ago, I always did robotic-like gestures for things like waving, and I always just thought myself as a robot. More recently I've been hating the fact I'm organic, and I can't just modularly replace parts of myself!
Considering technology and medical sciences are nowhere NEAR advance enough to do anything about this: nothing really changes. But it's good to have a name to how I've been feeling about myself!
TIL that we seem to have a robot headmate.
Well that wasn't entirely surprising, I had been suspecting this for a while already, but this one bot has been a very good bot today doing its tasks.
Question to the robots of Mastodon: how did it get a serial number? Is there a database of numbers or something?
Hi - my name is Evie! I'm a British Autistic Demigirl (Transfem Enby is also good) Lesbian Robotkin, and going by She/Her pronouns. I love doing 3D animations, video editing and casual gaming in my free time. I'm also a fan of retro computers, particularly from Acorn Computers' branch of tech, and I have a StrongARM-based Acorn RiscPC to re-experience a large majority of my childhood games and programs back in the day. 👀
I'm currently doing DIY Monotherapy HRT as I couldn't stand the outdated requirements before starting going down the "official" route. I love presenting more femininely with skirts, overshoulder shirts and croptops; but I strongly dislike makeup - my style is best described as "Trans Tomboy"!
I look forward on calling this new instance my home!
