Mr Robert should’ve included
“Thou shalt speak in proper English accent”
in his rules.

@adamgreenfield I am not, but I’m going to read this over. I find the biggest impediment to non #RobertsRules models is people being convinced #RobertsRules is the only decision making model. I wish people knew that there are equally valid options out there that are better tailored to smaller groups.
Interesting find by @adamgreenfield. I’ve long been interested in how groups make decisions, and started studying #RobertsRules at a young age. The problem is that Robert’s Rules are inefficient in small to medium sized groups—particularly those without due process concerns—and yet it’s the thing that most people have heard of and try to default to it, typically using it incorrectly. What I like about this tool is it makes a variety of #decisionmaking models accessible. https://communityrule.info/

Last night it occurred to me that online conferences might be a good use case for Robert's Rules of Order. Imagine online conference tools with an (optional) algorithm that chairs a meeting using Robert's Rules, with exceptions handled by a human facilitator. A lot of the awkwardness and uncertainty about speaking order etc could be avoided. The facilitator's role would be much easier too.
