You Can't Make This Shit Up ...
This rad #pjharvey, #ridofme album cover was done by @multiracialverse 's daughter! What a fun raw energy for such a fun raw band. Really stoked and thanks so much for participating! #jukeboxartproject

I missed posting about the release of Rid of Me 30 years ago earlier this year in April but the 4-Track Demos release will do.

Rid of Me is an absolutely incredible, raw, in your face album. Hearing it stripped down to just Polly Jean and mostly her guitar really let's you focus on that true rawness that's seeping through the album.

NOTE: A much more in-your-face mix of a tune from “#RidOfMe.” PJ’s slide work is really great.

Really enjoying the latest #RidOfMe single, they have really stepped up their game in every department. It's some #sludge #doom #punk hybrid with great melody. Excited about the upcoming album. https://ridofme.bandcamp.com/album/access-to-the-lonely #bandcamp #music

Rid Of Me
#GreatAlbums1990s - #PJHarvey#RidOfMe (1993). PJ Harvey (still a band at this point) intensifies the grit heard on debut, #Dry, with Steve Albini behind the glass. Harvey’s emotional exorcism scorches the irony of titles like “Rid of Me,” “Legs,” “Rub ‘til it Bleeds, “Man-Size” as the blues crash into punk. The cover of Dylan’s “Highway 61 Revisited” is more cathartic than reverent – the main impulse on this dark gem of an album.

#GreatAlbums1990s - #PJHarvey#RidOfMe (1993). PJ eschews the trio format to expand her sonic range and deepen her commitment to the spirit of blues. While the approach makes tracks like “C’mon Billy,” “Long Snake Moan,” and “Down by the Water” highlights of Harvey’s catalogue, the increasing mannerisms of her vocals risk putting the performances on the edge of camp – an issue she’d resolve with later albums.
