Exciting development on my #RFI hunt. Two linemen from SCE showed up today with some specialized gear. A Radar Engineers 243 RFI Locator, a parabolic dish, and a FLIR acoustic camera.

They connected the 243 to my antenna line and immediately said “ yep, that’s power noise and it’s bad”.

Checking up on some shack RFI today. I have this raspy sounding noise across almost all HF bands. Cutting power to the house and running on battery doesn’t change it. Seems to be external power line noise. Next step is to walk the neighborhood with an AM radio. Any other suggestions from the fediverse? #hamradio #rfihunting
