Let’s talk about innovation in aged care πŸ’”
I’ve been taking my time, soaking in my experience supporting my parents at their end of life in aged care.
I’ve been gathering my thoughts, trying to be empathetic of aged care providers and the lack of qualified staff, the lack of systems in place to leverage technology, and the absolute lack of person centred approaches today.
I’m talking to a lot of people, those with lived experience, those who are CEOs, CTOs and CIOs of aged care providers. I’m looking overseas too, seeing what is happening in this industry elsewhere.
What I have found is Australia’s aged care providers are mostly laggards, lagging behind at every level of care from transitioning into care, managing complex care needs, and innovation.
I have also found that the aged care and care advocates are tied to the hand that feeds them and are nowhere near outraged enough at the state of care of our senior citizens.
There has to be a deeper conversation about this multi billion dollar industry caring for our elders and those who need 24/7 care, we have to level up the standard we expect to see in our care sectors - because right now there isn’t one.
I’m deeply committed to disrupting this space, not only for my future and yours, but for those who are currently in care- it can be better and we have to make it so.

Birth stats for midwives:

NVB: 66%
Forceps: 9.8%
Vacuum: 6.9%
Caesarean: 17.2%

Over 85% of midwives got the model of care that they wanted

45% had continuity of midwifery care.

75.4% got the care provider they wanted.

How do we achieve similar stats for the general population of birthing women?

Did you know:

Women who give birth with continuity of midwifery care are more likely to have an overall positive birth experience, regardless of what happens during the birth.

But continuity of midwifery care models are in high demand and get booked out VERY quickly.

So if you want to have continuity of midwifery care, you absolutely must book in as soon as possible.

Don't wait until your hospital booking-in appointment to make a decision about who you want as a care provider.

Look for a continuity of care midwife as soon as you know you are pregnant!
