Zoom now has avatars (see below for InterRausch impostor).
Two questions:
1) Why do they only come as teenagers?
2) More importantly: since interpreters need a full view of the speaker, how will we react to speakers using avatars rather than their real video?

Today, I'll be speaking at a panel on the ethics of remote interpreting at the #TerpSummit2023 at 12pm UK time today.
Conference interpreters aren't the first people to do remote interpreting. They aren't even the first people to do remote simultaneous. Perhaps we should give more place to the voices of the interpreters who have used this kind of tech before us.
