I made a substack. Every month, I will look at a big concept behind commercial interpreting and multilingual church.

Free subscribers get the article on the concept. Paid subscribers get two extra articles a month: one on the specific application to interpreting and the other on the application to multilingual church.

Here's the first one, looking at why communication isn't simple, using badly drawn stick people.

Episode 15: Sharing the Spotlight

Listen to this episode from The Church Interpreting Podcast on Spotify. Some preachers might be scared to work with interpreters since it could feel like interpreters will steal the attention. This episode of The Church Interpreting Podcast was tough to edit, due to some background noise that got in. It was hard to record, due to the subjects of racism, grief, and their impact on church interpreting. But it is an episode I am inordinately proud of and one that I hope will make people think, encourage them, and provoke them to action.

I recently came across a French-speaking church that stopped offering #ChurchInterpreting into English as they thought English already had enough resources. What is the English-speaking #church missing by having so few #theology and teaching materials that are translated from other languages into English?

As a consultant interpreter, I find that most church people ask the same questions about #ChurchInterpreting. It just so happens that, for #interpreting to work in a church, they need to think through questions that no-one else can answer.

These are those questions.
