#NASA, #IBM just #opensourced an AI #climate model
Developed as collaboration between IBM & NASA with help from the US DOE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, 2.3 billion parameter foundation model called #Prithvi WxC was trained on 40yr of observation data from NASA's Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, Version 2 (MERRA-2) dataset. They also believe model is particularly well suited to simulating behavior of hurricanes and atmospheric rivers.
