@inarticulatequilter Here's what I made last night. First attempt is on the left, 2nd in the middle, and final on the right. The last one isn't perfect, but is good enough for this project.

NOTE: that light fabric isn't dirty, it's just a light grey that *looks* dirty.

Wheels down SEA. In-flight embroidery progress. Two rows of nine now pieced for the mini sewing kit project from Quilting On The Go by Alexandrakis.

Now, that butterfly was a design choice and nobody will tell me otherwise.

Continuing with the making of fabric hexagons for later piecing.

A few more fabric hexes basted. #piecing #needlework
Commute bus needlework progress. 2cm or 3/4" side hexagonal pieces basted to templates for later piecing. Working without a specific place for these pieces, with several projects in mind. #piecing #needlecraft

Ironing some scraps and pieces as candidates for paper pieced hexagons.

Okay maybe "hexagon needle book" is my next sewing project. From a casual web search, it seems to be an entire genre of small projects.

Although, I did make the job a little easier for myself. I used a strip of white fabric almost 2.5" (~6.1 or 6.2 cm) wide, and put all the triangles on it, then sewed 1/4" (6 mm) seams down the long sides of each triangle, cut them all apart, then pressed, and trimmed. Here's a picture of the little tiny ruler I used to trim all the squares. It's a lot of work for such small blocks.

I got a little bored just cutting all my fabric scraps today, so I took a few minutes and pieced some teeny tiny half-square triangle blocks. Just wanted to try something new. I'm not used to making 1.5" (3.8 cm) squares. I have HUNDREDS of little triangles in various colors and prints. Maybe someday I'll use them in an actual, usable quilt.
