Coming up on tonight's Top of the Pops, it's Peter Powell's last edition. Sure, he was handsy in a way we don't tolerate now.

Peter was also enthusiastic about the music he played, generous to new talent, and knew when it was his time to step back from the mike and concentrate on other things.

I think Peter's final radio show is a masterclass in how to leave with grace: remember the times shared with listeners, and hint at what's next in his life.

I had an original, red Peter Powell kite with a blue, inflatable tail in the late 70's early 80's What an absolutely amazing kite to fly, especially in high winds. Action packed hours of fun 😀

Today Peter Powell's sons are keeping his legacy alive by building and selling a revised version of the original kite.
