Snow flurries which currently aren't sticking (yet) downtown. #PDXMST #pdxtst

@mandrakeOPE @scott it has only just occurred to me to add #pdxmst as an alternative that’s less confusing.

So many of us who were early adopters of “thing formerly known as Twitter” and started using the hashtag. There was a fairly sizable community of users in the tech scene. It’s honestly second nature to add it wherever I talk about local weather.

I think we’re getting a mix of snow and ice.

Folks who laugh at #Portland completely losing all coherence during a winter storm event fail to understand that it is rarely _just snow_. We get snow, ice, and often a little warmth to turn it to inches of solid ice. If it were snow alone it wouldn’t be as bad.

We also don’t have a large fleet of plows because it wouldn’t be financially sustainable to maintain vehicles that maybe will get used for one event a year. Combine that with a very hilly metro area and tons of trees and you get a #Snowpocolypse.

I grew up here and every once in a while a serious winter storm shut everything down for days on end. I can recall one winter as a kid where we were without power for over a week. It was wretched.

@freeformz I think we’ve got a snow and ice mix in #FarSW #PDX #pdxtst or perhaps #pdxmst
Well, Portland appears to have hammered with the snow, but Wilsonville and Tualatin didn't get squat. #pdxtst #PDXMST
Okay are we keeping #pdxtst over here or are we accepting that we are now #pdxmst? /s
Bad jokes gone good: How the Portland Twitter! Storm! Team! hashtag joke became a valuable weather resource

When it comes to this time of year, Portland gets a little wacky about its weather. That’s nothing new. It’s been happening for quite some time. Live coverage from the top of Sylvan Hil…

On the other site, we talked about the weather with the hashtag #pdxtst, which stood for “PDX Twitter! Storm! Team!,” mocking how local news hypes up the possibility of snow. Do we rename that to #pdxmst now that folks are here? #pdx #weather
@turoczy Is it #pdxmst if it moves to Mastodon? 😂
@grigs @lisawagner P.S. Might need to loop @techphotoguy and @Verso into converting #pdxtst to #pdxmst 😂
