During their re-development, Number 18 was gutted by a fire, leaving it severely damaged. However, it was re-built, largely to the original specifications, and from the outside it is hard to tell the fire ever happened. It's now once again a private residential property.

The 1850s Strain Hall on Park Terrace in the West End of Glasgow, which was formerly part of the Maclay Halls of Residence. Originally occupying just Number 16/17 (on the opposite side of Park Gate), this was Glasgow University's first student halls of residence. It was donated to the university in 1921 by its previous owners, Lord and Lady Maclay,in memory of their sons, Ebenezer and William Maclay, who had been killed in the First World War.
