Interesting comment from Spencer Arden incumbent minister at St Peter’s Church Wolverhampton following the baptism of a large number of children on 10 April 1814. I wondered how many times this may have happened across the years in churches in Britain. Could be another explanation as we can’t find baptisms sometimes. #Genealogy #baptisms #parishregisters
Does anyone know what "et O Nous" would mean in this context? It doesn't seem to be Latin. This is a 1866 baptism record for Patrick Timothy McWeeny in Mohill, Leitrim, Ireland. No parents are listed so I assume he is illigetimate. Adults being baptized had different text a long the lines of "recieved in to the bosom of the R. C. Church". I'm interested in this since the sponsors are relatives of mine. They are husband and wife. #genealogy #parishregisters #Ireland
PARISH REGISTER LATIN BY C. RUSSELL JENSEN
Although perhaps a little dated this book has some comprehensive word lists and abbreviations. If you learnt a little Latin at school you might find this useful when moving into the specialised style of #Latin in #ParishRegisters
