It's so hot, it makes me yearn for #rain. I'm in a #sombre mood today. For one, I've got the sniffles (and I'm an expert whiner), but more seriously: the hatchlings disappeared without a trace. 🥺 The nest is empty, the parents are nowhere in sight, and there's something on the floor that looks like dry blood. I haven't the faintest idea what happened. The nest sits undisturbed on the beam, so what could have snatched them? I didn't think the spot is easy to reach for a ground predator. It's just straight beams and walls. Could a raccoon or pine marten have climbed up there for a snack? Very sad. 😢

Juhannus – the Finnish midsummer. It's been cloudy and rainy for a few days here in Helsinki, but the sun dropped by yesterday, encouraged me to go for a walk, and pointed me to these ox-eye daisies. We call them "päivänkakkara" which is a wonderful name for a flower.

And now it looks like it's going to rain again 🙄 Well, I think the daisies like it.
