Hey #fosstodon or #openpaymentsdev #openpayments folks, I'm interested in #foss solutions for managing donations to #opensource projects I like. I'm thinking something like an inverse a ko-fi/patreon type thing or whatever the hell creators use, but one that that is more giver-powered. I suspect a big blocker to getting sustainable donations for foss dev/artwork/blogging is all these different crowdfunding systems and I don't want to sign up for five+ different sites that almost all involve questionable people, policies, security, etc, and so I just don't.

I want some kind of app that let's me quickly setup recurring donations to artists/devs/nonprofit type orgs directly from my bank (or PayPal/venmo/cashapp/etc if I have to) and manage those in one place, change the amounts, and maybe set a global amount that gets distributed in some customizable way.

Maybe that's like a foss version of rocketmoney or whatever (never used it), the one that finds all your fascist tech subscriptions and pulls them together in one place to manage. I want to just click a link you have on your site or profile and you get added to my recurring donation list and you get paid into your bank, like a reverse RSS feed of money with minimal to no middlefucks taking a cut from either of us.

Can this be a thing?

has anybody been using #FedNow to replace #zelle and #venmo? lots of banks (not my credit union yet) are rolling it out and I'm wondering how it works. can it replace #paypal too? does anybody program with it? could it integrate with #OpenPaymentsDev? does any of what I'm writing make sense?
