I've really gotten into ONE Fighting Championship, not because I enjoy combat sports. I like the challenge of trying to pronounce Thai fighter names in a respectful manner.
It's an even more difficult exercise since the stroke.

Watched ONE 168 last night and groaned when they broke for a special guest. Those are usually really boring, but I have to hand it to Demetrious Johnson announcing his retirement. It was one of the highlights of an overall very good event.

Johnson getting choked up over his love for his family was beautiful. But also extremely funny.
"I never really like him before, but that's what a REAL man is," my wife said through her laughter, and I agree.
I've said it before what I really like about ONE is how true their culture is to the spirit of martial arts. It's a sport, not a soap opera, and fights end with handshakes, hugs, bows and compliments.
I get why the typically-cheery, rated-G Mikey was so upset after tapping Sousa out, arguing with him and his corner then unloading endless F-bombs on Mitch in the post fight. Sousa went way across the line, pre-fight.
Damn hilarious rant though! π
After the horrible, awkward and boring all-male ONE 166 event held in Qatar last week, it was nice they made up for it with a major International Women's Day event featuring an all-women card.
Every one of the nine fights was top shelf, showcasing amazing athleticism and exemplifying the mutual respect and fair play one expects from the martial arts.
Damn, who knew such amazing Muay Thai would come out of Poland? Martyna Kierczynska destroying Wondergirl Jaroonsak was crazy. Poland Power indeed!
