Library lovers in New York, heads up: Mayor Mamdani has released his preliminary city budget proposal — and despite REPEATEDLY promising that he would set a baseline of 0.5% of the expense budget to fund the city’s libraries, this proposal only commits 0.39%. This is not only far short of his pledge, but is also less than the FORMER mayor’s allocation for libraries.
