Still kind of floored that my #ActuallyAutistic ass made it through two conferences within 10 days! #NWSA2022 last week/end and #MMLA2022 . I don’t think I’m cut out for constant conferencing like this, but am so proud I was able to manage my spoons & social battery to have a great time here. And to share #transMad scholarship w/ lots of amazing new and old friends. #AcademicMastdon
The post-#NWSA2022 come down is *so much worse* than the post Disney come down. I sort of kind of understand separatist ideology in these moments except for me I want our island or mountain top to be full of queer crip feminist of color fantasticalness

At the walker art museum in #minneapolis and just ate one of the best (#vegan !) salads I’ve ever had. It’s all in the pistachios.

The restaurant here is the perfect place for me to read, plus the galleries in this space were wonderful to wander. So glad to be here! #NWSA2022 #MMLA2022 #AcademicFedi #academicMastodon

This, and the way I was able to be in community with #queercrip & #transmad kin are truly the whole point. I’ll be sad to see #nwsa2022 end tomorrow.

Presenting at #NWSA2022 today at Rage Against the Machine: Navigating Abolition Systems of Care!

My presentation is titled “Minor Matters: Disability, Childhood, and Technologies of Shame,” and will be about the exploitation-as-“care” of those marked “dependent,” making connections between chronological youth and disability across age, as caregivers accumulate power and capital via their subjugation.

This will be a hybrid panel, starting at 11 CST. Message for the zoom!

Also #nwsa2022 I now have way more new books than I can reasonably bring home 😵‍💫
#nwsa2022 thinking so powerfully rn with care - what can we (trans[/]Mad ppl in particular) expect / demand from/to/with each other, across institutions — in the academy, which will never love us, but also amid the MIC, which will never love us, but in which we need to make ourselves loved? At least, bearable to med/psych author(Iris)s? #TransMad
To all those #FirstGen scholars going to a #conference for the first time: you’ve got this. Be kind to yourself. And don’t be afraid to curate. You don’t have to do everything! #nwsa2022
