essjaxI spent six nights sleeping on the floor in a very modest Japanese house. Wooden floor, not fancy tΔtΔmi mats. Just a 'futon' - that is, a 5cm thick foam pad.
As a middle-aged man with back problems and more, you'd think that would be simply painful and uncomfortable, and you'd be wrong.
It was far worse than that. It has been torturous. Far out.
I love Japan and the Japanese but wtf this is not a sensible sleeping arrangement.
