Think this could be one of those aftershocks Niki Savva mentions in her book Earthquake, where she says: “In 2025, the election was a seven-plus for the damage it inflicted on the Liberal Party, which now teeters precariously on the edge of an abyss, without a harness, without a safety net, without a coherent plan to secure its survival.
“And the aftershocks continue.”

Finished reading Earthquake by Niki Savva. A book about politics (specifically the ‘surprise’ losses by conservatives of the last 2 Australian elections), full of quotable quotes. From the Introduction (p 3):
“Journalists… seldom welcome being told how to do their jobs better, especially if they are in the business of dividing, not informing, or if they are loathe to deliver tough messages to leaders they like or their owners support. Blindly partisan media—particularly Sky After Dark and the Murdoch Press—create or nurture the fatal flaws that eventually destroy the very people they are desperate to promote. Along the way they wreck their own credibility. Covering up for conservatives—or anybody else—ensures that everyone loses. Including and especially Australians.”

The response from the Liberal hard right to the threat of a schism which 2022 portended has been a redoubling of efforts to purge moderates from the party by stripping them of their pre-selections. It won’t win the teal seats back.
Whether you like her or not, Niki Savva is an excellent writer.
She’s taken a comment made by Morrison in a poor effort to explain his pathetic behaviour..”I can be a bit of a bulldozer”
..& turned it into the title of her new book “Bulldozed”.. & well & truly decimated him.
