Holy s* - I'm reading this article and apparently Niantic (The company behind Pokémon Go) was literally FOUNDED as a CIA operation.. and then the CEO #johnhanke went on to create f* Google Maps. what the hell..

I already don't really support #pokemon because it encourages the slave trade of animals. (not to mention animal fighting but nobody wants to talk about that)

STOP supporting Pokémon and ASK #nintendo to stop including #animalfighting in their games. If you played #Pokopia TELL Nintendo the new Pokémon game is your favorite because there's less fighting! And ask them to stop sharing YOUR data with #military organizations!

There's always some cognitive dissonance when the public learns something I've known for over a decade. Happens less often since I've been out of FAANG for over six years, but still happens.

Yes, folks... Niantic was building a vast geo database with your Pokémon foot traffic and scans. That was always the plan. They actually weren't secretive about it... It was a big deal in the Big Data trade press. Using leisure or busywork was a whole thing back then... ReCAPTCHA, Duolingo, Niantic.
