Somewhere earlier today someone boosted a toot that rambled on about a lot of things.

I thought about replying.

Hours later, the thoughts kept creeping into my mind.

I have now searched, unsuccessfully for a while to find this boosted toot again.

I can certainly forgive whining about "but reddit let me find things on subjects rather than by authors" from a n00b who never used NNTP or IRC as just some examples of prior art which had similar features.

Yet they used the phrase, "God Emperor" of FOSS people lording over users or some such and like:

wtfh?

Yep, clearly that is why I am in debt and sleeping in a car yet still contribute to libre/free open source software: because I am a God Emperor? </sarcasm>

Maybe @brynet repeatedly asking for donations to not starve, is God Emperor behavior?

I am no expert on hyperbole referencing Frank Herbert's franchise that is way too long in the tooth, but perhaps OpenBSD could hit its fundraising goals (unlike last year) and be closer to not shoving its "God Emperor" like status in everyone's faces?

Linus Torvalds, purportedly gets $10million/year from The Linux Foundation, yet was posting to the FediVerse about dishwasher recommendations, is that God Emperor behavior?

Meanwhile: Reddit has a valuation of something bonkers like $10 billion.

Apple: over a trillion USD.

Jeff Bezos net worth roughly: $149 billion.

Bill Gates: $115 billion.

Do you know *any* billionaire FOSS contributors? Because I know a lot of libre/free open source software developers and have for decades.

Last I checked, jkh was working for NVidia, not: CTO. Not CIO, not a billionaire, the search engines suggest: *maybe* he has as much as $5 million? Code he has written is in every Apple device that has shipped for the last two decades, at least.

"God Emperor" FOSS canards.

JFC, who is that ignorant? I guess they won't be getting a direct reply from me.
