In Virginia, Censors Attempt to Axe 'Wishtree'

The Floyd County (Va.) Public Schools have suspended a One Division, One Book community reading of Katherine Applegate’s Wishtree following complaints that the novel depicts a monoecious red oak, a tree with both male and female reproductive parts.

Akebia quinata (Chocolate Vine) is a relative of clematis that produces separate staminate (male, left) and pistillate (female, right) flowers. Both are found on the same plant though, unlike in ginkgos, cycads, hops, hollies and asparagus (amongst others), which usually have separate male and female plants.
