Why are we still allowing the federal government to allow MOHELA to continue to be a student loan servicer. Law suits and fines and unprocessed borrower requests.. and now they cannot maintain recurring payments. they wont tell you when the payment fails.

Student loans are bad enough.. now you have to constantly fight with a servicer to pay them money because they are incompetent at their jobs.

But we gotta remember: THAT WAS ALWAYS THE PLAN. The reason it’s so YAY now is because up until a few years ago, the system was so broken that the forgiveness promised was getting all messed up

Anyway, what is NOT good news is every communication bt eligible & actually DONE done. As I wait β€œpatiently” for confirmation that my $120k is forgiven (& a refund on overpayment), I just got told I owe $220k. #MOHELA v2 is wildly bad at talking

Well, after numerous hours of phone calls and various complaints filed with various entities, my #studentloans serviced by #MOHELA are mostly finally in order on the PSLF and SAVE plan again. I'm still short roughly 2 years of the payment credits I expected should be there and they're apparently still "looking into" that, but my payment for the next twelve months is 1/10 of what it last billed at. Here's to hoping MOHELA doesn't spontaneously screw it all up again.

Depending on which paperwork from #MOHELA is valid, I either should have had around 1.5 years of payments as of last November or I still need to make 8 years worth of payments. I have been working in public sector since 2012.

The #MOHELA lady came back and said they it's not possible to stay on the #SAVE plan when you consolidate direct loans and so MOHELA didn't mess up (near verbatim quote). I protested saying I have the paperwork to show that SAVE application along with the Consolidation from #DeptEd. She admitted that she sees that, too, and... place me back on hold.

Roughly 2 hours in, I got transferred to someone in training who said they couldn't reprocess my already approved IDR/SAVE application, but that I would need to re-apply which triggered a higher payment and said I would need to take a general, not administrative forbearance to cover their mess up. It was at this moment, I decided lost my cool and was placed back on hold while they "consult about further options".

Now 1.5 hours into being on hold for this call to #MOHELA. This was calling during their recommended off-peak timeframe and in addition to the hours spent on the exact same issue Tuesday.

I feel a duality of things. Both that MOHELA must be understaffed and yet I can't imagine how terrible of a workplace it must be since Betsy DeVos had her dementors suck the soul out of #DeptEd and everything around it.

Looks like #MOHELA approved my #SAVE plan under a recent consolidation and then just... didn't do it. So they keep saying that they approved it and yet I am still not actually on the SAVE/IDR plan.

Again, they need one of their "specialists" to look into it.

I always feel like Wesley* getting years of his life sucked out of him by the lackey of some tyrant whenever I have to deal with #MOHELA and #DeptEd.

These people have utterly lost all sense of humanity.
