JD Vance is literally misquoting the bible when he launches into that christian nationalist scam interpretation of ”love thy neighbour”

Jesus didn’t say there’s a descending hierarchy of loving people; Love them less and less the further away they are from you.

Nothing like that. In fact Jesus was very clear what he meant. So clear he told the parable about it: The parable of the good Samaritan.

I have to quote the bible now? 🤦‍♂️

Someone the other day (on the Macbeth instance, if memory serves) circulated a post that claimed that the dictum "the customer is always right" had a coda: "in matters of taste". It was possibly because this myth re-circulated that Snopes has just debunked it:

The Enigmatic Origins of 'The Customer is Always Right'

Despite allegations that the phrase once ended with "in matters of taste," we found no evidence to support the claim.

The quote that #HunterSThompson actually said...

"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.

Which is more or less true. For the most part, they are dirty little animals with huge brains and no pulse."

Seeing as "I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It" is doing the rounds again, don't forget to credit it to the correct person. There's no evidence Voltaire ever said this.
