Meshcore-open supports SMAZ compression of messages. #Meshy now supports decompression in case you receive messages compressed in this way.
However, the compression isn't worthwhile. I ran a benchmark on 11k messages, mostly in non-English languages, and found that only 1.1% of messages were smaller after compression, with a total data saving of just 0.1%. Results for English messages were not significantly better.
It’s fun to watch which routes messages take to reach you over the mesh network. After #Meshy learned to permanently store discovered nodes, the number of unknown repeaters without a location was reduced to a minimum, and route rendering became very reliable.
Tired of losing node info? #Meshy now parses adverts directly from RX_LOG_DATA and saves them in its database of discovered contacts, regardless of the contact limits in the #MeshCore firmware.
All nodes that your companion has encountered in the last 3 months are saved for use in tracing routes, rendering paths on maps, or adding contacts.
#Meshy now draws unknown nodes in paths on the map, too. As their location is unknown they're placed in the middle of the line between neighbouring nodes.
By the way, dark themes now have a dark-style map. 😉
