FYI @NarrelleMHarris and I have reviewed a bunch of Melbourne Fringe Festival shows - including one by some very funny New Zealanders dressed in banana costumes, taped to a wall. Yes, you read that right.

The Melbourne Fringe Festival is back! I've seen four shows with @NarrelleMHarris, and we've reviewed:
- How to Art (absurdist physical comedy taking on the art world);
- Murder in the Graveyard (an improv version of a Christie-like murder mystery);
- Sincere Apologies (an audience-run series of apologies from past, present and future);
- Motion Sickness (text and music combine to give a glimpse of the cosmos).

A big bundle of Melbourne Fringe Festival reviews from the Age reviewers...

I had a brief appearance on stage Saturday night, at a Fringe show I was attending with reviewers' tix.
In Villains, a drag parody of Disney's villains, I was selected along with another bearded bloke to be the 'Captain Hook' character's henchmen and do a fan dance while wearing a sailor's beanie. We basically followed the main henchman's lead and ended with fluttering the fans behind us as if tails. It was very popular.
You'd be amazed how often this has happened over the years! Odd to end up in a show you're supposed to be reviewing.
Anyway the show is excellent, much recommended if you're after something raunchy with fabulous costumes (and an excellent dissection of the concept of villainy): https://melbournefringe.com.au/event/villains-a-dizney-in-drag-parody/

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the evilest of them all? Well come find out for yourself in The Hairy Godmothers' new sinful sequel.What could be more devilishly delicious and tantalisingly twisted than a vivacious vaudeville of Villains in drag? Come peer into this cave of wonders and find a treasure trove of misunderstood 'outcasts' of society and the evils that shape the world. Featuring the hottest and darkest miscreants, scoundrels, reprobates this side of the elephant graveyard.This musical comedy will be perfectly wretched, my darling. As nostalgic narratives are rewritten to capture what lies beneath the surface, from the depths of the ocean floor to the castle dungeons, you'll pity the poor unfortunate souls who miss out on this one. All we can say is... be prepared.Disclaimer: This VILLAINS: A Dizney in Drag Parody event and the producers The Hairy Godmothers are in no way affiliated with, or endorsed by, The Walt Disney Company or any of it's affiliates.
