@caseynewton @kevinroose thank you for interviewing the #mechanize founders. I’m still not convinced by their dodgy and vague answers that they give a hoot for the long term well-being of society. “There’ll be winners and losers” - yeah… let extreme capitalism ride!

I’m sure they don’t wanna be on the negative side of that win/loss ledger & will do whatever they can to insure they get their $$$$$$.

Happy #hardforkfriday listening!

As always, worth a listen to @caseynewton & @kevinroose – especially the listeners’ Q&A part. Do AI company founders REALLY care about the future or only care so far to grab their ca$h for their bunkered island?

Like these smugs at #mechanize - apparently designing the death of society:

New startup Mechanize aims to automate ALL jobs, targeting the $60T global wage market. Founder Tamay Besiroglu faces heat over the extreme goal & potential conflict with his AI research org, Epoch. Bold move or troubling future? #Mechanize #AIautomation #FutureOfWork
Is there a lighter-weight version of Mechanize? Like one that doesn't automatically parse responses or return "page" objects? I just need a cookie jar, persistent connections, and redirect following. Debating whether to write my own lightweight version atop of my existing HTTP wrapper.

Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well. Getting Started Selenium WebDriver Selenium WebDriver If you want to create robust, browser-based regression automation suites and tests, scale and distribute scripts across many environments, then you want to use Selenium WebDriver, a collection of language specific bindings to drive a browser - the way it is meant to be driven.
