Alors que ce type d'objets de la civilisation Maya en Amérique Centrale, est exposé dans beaucoup de musées ethnographiques, c'est la première fois, à Vienne, que je lis une explication de son usage. Les autres musées indiquent ignorer celui-ci.

Pour résumer : ces "ceintures" de pierre sont à porter sur la hanche dans le cadre du jeu de pelote, qui se jouait avec de grosses balles de caoutchouc. Elles permettent de protéger la hanche.
