As it's Burns' Night tonight, I thought I'd take the opportunity to feature the 1898 Burns National Memorial in Mauchline in Ayrshire to the south of Glasgow. While Burns never lived in Glasgow, he visited it on a number of occasions, and one night out in the city with his friend Richard Brown (who was the first to suggest Burns should publish his poetry), Burns later recalled as being 'one of the happiest occasions of my life.'
