A bit of inspiration from #MathArtMarch

This is a guest post by Elinor, who’s been collecting her favourite maths art from the month of March. March is a month of change in the UK: the days get longer, the temperature is slowly cre…

#MathArtMarch Day 8: Pentagon (final post!)
Here are 51 pentagons in a centered pentagonal pattern. Part of an ongoing series of artworks expressing the positive integers as a geometric arrangement of identical simple visual elements.

#MathArtMarch Day 7: How Many?
How many small white circles do you see? Clever counting should reveal a fun answer.

#MathArtMarch Day 5: Discovery
Julia is the Solution
This work pays homage to Julia Robinson (1919–1985). Her work was a critical component in discovering a proof (negatively) of Hilbert's tenth problem.

#MathArtMarch Day 3: Nature
Swirling Snowflakes
It wasn't until the early 1900s that scientists began to understand the nature of frozen water crystals that leads to their beautiful structure.

Still catching up with early #MathArtMarch themes.

#MathArtMarch Day 2: On a Square Grid
Here are 41 superellipses on a rotated square grid. Part of an ongoing series of artworks expressing the positive integers as a geometric arrangement of identical simple visual elements.

Bah! Stupidly missed the last day of #mathartmarch! I blame shingles vax side effects. Not sure what I'd have posted. My work is certainly changing so that fits the prompt which was "change". Expect knitted wall art subjecting traditional Fair Isle patterns to Conway's Game of Life. No photos yet.
