It seems to me that there are a lot of movies with that title.

But in the world of rock, it’s mainly the Talking Heads song that’s famous! You won’t hear it in this movie, in case you were wondering.

This film focuses on the crimes of a Satanist serial killer. Not to be confused with Psycho Killer (2015)… which also stars Malcolm McDowell!!! He really never changes! Always playing relatively despicable roles…

A pretty good crime thriller. An excellent Georgina Campbell plays Jane Thorne, a woman whose husband was killed right before her eyes. This leads her to track down the murderer, who is a Satanist serial killer.

Georgina also appears in the pitiful The Watchers (2024). Fortunately, she’s in the very good T.I.M. (2025) and in episode 4 of season 4 (this isn’t a joke!) of Black Mirror.

Logan Miller (Love) plays Marvin, a follower of a satanic cult.

James Preston Rogers plays the Psycho Killer, a ruthless slasher.

And Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) plays Mr. Pendleton, a leader or some kind of guru.
I say this all the time: every time I watch a movie like this, I desperately search for the same enjoyment I got from Se7en (1995). I found it in a few brief moments, but that’s about it.

But imagine my surprise when I read, “The new Seven? Thriller fans are going to love this film, set for release in 2026”! I wondered, “But why this comparison?” And I discovered that this film is written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter of David Fincher’s “Seven.” So the writer of Se7en and the producers of Barbarian (a 2022 film, also starring Georgina Campbell) are all coming together here!

Even though I followed this movie with great interest, I realize I can’t give it a super-high rating. The ending is actually pretty disappointing. It’s decent, but nothing truly spectacular or surprising. And I think that’s a shame. An extraordinary finale would have given it even more impact and made the movie truly memorable. As it is, it’ll be quickly forgotten. In Seven, everything is incredible: the story, the direction, the atmosphere, the plot twists, the actors… but also the final scenes! Would this film have been better in Fincher’s hands? Hard to say, because, as much as he’s one of my favorite directors, he also disappointed me with The Killer (2023).

So… a solid crime thriller, a good time, but not exactly a must-watch. There isn’t too much action—there’s an orgy, a big brawl, and some cold-blooded murders. You’ve got all the info you need to decide whether you want to dive into it or not. No torture, no gore—and that’s always a plus for me. You’ve got to sometimes preserve and take care of your brain!

Il me semble qu’il y a beaucoup de films qui ont ce titre.

Mais dans le monde du Rock, c’est surtout la chanson des Talking Heads qui est connue ! On ne l’entendra p dans ce film, au cas où vous vous poseriez la question.

Ce film s’intéressera aux crimes d’un tueur en série sataniste. À ne pas confondre avec le Psycho Killer (2015)… qui est aussi Malcolm McDowell !!! Décidément, il ne changera jamais ! Toujours dans des rôles relativement détestables…

Assez bon film policier. Une excellente Georgina Campbell joue Jane Thorne, une femme dont le mari a été tué devant ses yeux. Ce qui fait qu’elle décide de traquer le meurtrier qui est un tueur en série sataniste.

Georgina est aussi dans le pitoyable The Watchers (2024). elle est heureusement dans le très bon T.I.M. (2025) et dans l’épisode 4 de la saison 4 (ce n’est pas un gag !) de Black Mirror.

Logan Miller joue le rôle de Marvin, un adepte d’un culte sataniste.

Et Malcolm McDowell (Orange Mécanique) joue Mr. Pendleton, un chef ou un espèce de gourou.
Je le dis très souvent : à chaque fois que je regarde un film comme ça, je recherche désespérément le plaisir que j’ai au avec Se7en (1995). Je l’ai retrouvé à certains petits moments, mais pas plus que ça.

Mais quelle ne fut pas ma surprise quand j’ai lu «Le nouveau Seven ? Les fans de thriller vont adorer ce film attendu pour 2026» ! Je me suis demandé «Mais pourquoi cette comparaison ?» Et j’ai découvert que ce film est scénarisé par Andrew Kevin Walker, l’auteur de “Seven” de David Fincher. Donc l’auteur de Se7en et les producteurs de Barbarian (film de 2022, aussi avec Georgina Campbell) sont réunis ici !

Malgré le fait que j’ai suivi ce film avec beaucoup d’intérêt, je constate que je ne peux pas lui donner une donner une note méga haute. En effet, la fin est assez décevante. Elle est correcte, mais rien de vraiment spectaculaire ou de surprenant. Et je trouve ça dommage. Un bouquet final extraordinaire aurait donné encore plus de puissance et aurait rendu le film marquant. Alors que là, ce sera du vite oublié. Dans Seven, tout est incroyable : l’histoire, la réalisation, l’ambiance, les retournements de situations, les acteurs… mais aussi les dernières scènes ! Est-ce que ce film aurait été meilleurs entre les maison de Fincher ? Difficile à dire, car, autant c’est une de mes réalisateurs préféré, autant il m’a aussi déçu avec The Killer (2023).

Donc… un bon thriller policier, un bon moment, mais pas essentiel non plus. Il n’y a pas trop d’action, il y a une orgie, une grande bagarre, des meurtres de sang-froid. Vous avez tous les éléments pour savoir si vous voulez vous lancer là-dedans ou pas. Pas de torture, ni de gore et ça, c’est toujours une bonne chose pour moi. Il faut savoir préserver son cerveau !
